Long Island Protection Dogs
Long Island Protection Dogs Inc provides real life training for Personal Protection Dogs (PPD), and limited competition training. Our Decoys were trained for PPD, Protection Sport Association (PSA) French and Belgian Ring. If your looking for Shutzhund, sorry, we are probably not for you.
Our training philosophy often differs from many others who train for bitework. It is the belief of many trainers, that there should be no obedience training (aka control) before a dog learns to properly bite. It is true, that it's easier for the trainer, but it can put you and your dog in a dangerous position before obedience is introduced. The way we train, allows for extreme control, but still encourages your dog to have fun in his or her new job. Our control is easily maintained by all adults in your household, even if the dog is a little stronger than some handlers.
Training
We offer training three times every week, all year long. Mondays and Friday nights are at our training facility in Farmingdale. Sunday mornings April through December we are usually at Farmingdale College (weather permitting) In case of foul weather, Sunday morning class is at the indoor facility.
